"High-Top" of the Pops!!"

Hey Brown hearts!!....

Recently whilst looking at my cousin Raych's Facebook I got the inspiration to blog on that 90s phenomenon that is making its way back to our shores. Once described by my mate Andy as "that square hairstyle" ....it is better known (to anyone who had a black brother, relatives, mates ....or was into Hip Hop in the 90s) as....... "The High-Top"!!

(some brothers 'getting their hair hooked up'... cop those tramlines!! The dude with the clippers better not make a mistake..lol.)

In celebration of its return, here are the people who I believe to have been at the head of the 'high-top army':

TOP OF THE HIGH-TOPS

1.  KID n PLAY: Perfect examples of the 'HIGH-TOP FADE'!! (HTF).

2. WILL SMITH AND JAZZY JEFF: The more mainstream example of the "HIGH-TOP FADE".

3. RADIO RAHEEM AND SPIKE LEE: Showcasing the HTF on the silverscreen.

4. DWAYNE WAYNE: Advocate of the the 'HIGH-TOP PEAK'.... Tin Tin style.

5. THEO HUXTABLE: This was his during post the jheri curl phaze!!

HEY ladies!! ...... you know we couldn't leave you out.....

6. Grace Jones: Perfect example of the fierce female 'HIGH-TOP'. 

( Avant Garde Artist ..... and the most frightening woman  in the world!)

7. Adeva: Who could argue with both 'height' and 'peak'.... British ladies style!

 (90s British Soul music sensation... doing it for us here in the U.K. )

....and brothers and sisters of the 'Non-Fro' nation..... how could we forget you when there has been such 'superbad' reprasentations as......

8. VANILLA ICE: The shock blonde teamed with intricate tram lines.... classic!

(90s bad boy 'rapper'.... you know you were doing the running man to 'Ice Ice Baby'... save your denial!! )

9. DOLPH LUNDGREN: Blonde and scary.... its good to be square.

 (film actor famed for his role in 'Rocky 2')

Again, we haven't forgotten you ladies.....

10. BRIDGET NELSON: Say it with curls!... love the side swoosh =)

Although you should be careful of rocking number 10 if you have little hair experience... one false move and you could look like this.

Only kidding 'double J'!!  I'm sure your both trying ..lol. 

Well people, I want to thank Raych aka Cocoa Marron once more for her inspirational Facebook photos ;0) I'm off to go wash my hair now! Who knows, I may test out my very own 'high-top' in the shower =)
