"I love the 80s... they were educational!"

Hello Brown Hearted Ones!!

Recently we missed "Back to the Future" on sky movies.... how annoying! As a result we decided to go onto youtube and check out a few 80s gems which got me thinking....
The 80s taught us many things and as a student of 'the 80s Academy of "Koolness-ology" I thought we'd pass on some words of wisdom to those who had the misfortune not to attend ...here goes:

Lesson 1:
NEVER SAY DIE...

Perseverance in the face of adversity... in the face of 'suspect restaurant owners' .... snobby 'jock' bullies... pessimistic beefcake elder brothers... chubby kids with curly hair and verbal diarrhea... dangerous underground caves ...... and all this without any adult supervision!!
How can anyone diss the 80s when that was the decade that taught us persistence,  in the form of the unlikely heroes that were... 'THE GOONIES'.

Lesson 2:
NEVER JUDGE OTHERS...

As the saying goes "Never judge a book by its cover". Again, The Goonies was expert at pointing that out via the unlikely hero 'Sloth'.... However, who could ever forget the lesson learnt by five teenagers one saturday morning in 'Shermer Illonios' ... the walls of that classroom spread far and wide across the countless borders of gender, geography ... even across time.
No matter where you are... or who you are... you're sat in that classroom, listening to your life being discussed.
Regardless of age, space and time, we watched... we learnt... we punched our fist in the air... (even if we didn't quite know what for). THE BREAKFAST CLUB was and is the stuff of legend.

Lesson 3:
DON'T BE AFRAID OF TECHNOLOGY....

What better way to learn that technology is your friend than to use it construct a super cool, super sassy super model type. A chick so kool she does 'classy burps' with the power to take you from obscurity to .. well... a little higher than obscurity? A girl who sees no issue in demolishing your home, freezing your Grandparents, seeing off some lame-o bullies, earning you cool points with your all time crushes, endearing you to some dodgy barflys ... not too mention killer mutants... and all this whilst endangering your life in the process. Who could fault the genius that is WEIRD SCIENCE?

No self respecting fashion lover could ever deny how off the chain Miss Le Broc's outfits were in this movie!!

Lesson 4:
DANCE!!...

A world where there is no DANCE??... Never!! This film just teaches you that if you outlaw dance, Kevin Bacon will come to your town all angsty and rhythmical. No one wants that do they?..lol. I defy anyone to resist the rhythm of life when they are forced to watch this film on a saturday afternoon. You know once you watch five minutes, five turns to ten ...which turns to fifteen.. which turns to twenty.. and so on and so on until Chris Penn is doing weird pointy motions at the floor.. roll credits and were done! Where did my afternoon go?
Put it this way, while some would argue it was Troma films I would have to say that without FOOT LOOSE, the world would never have known the joy that is 'sizzling Bacon'!

Lesson 5:
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY....

We all know that notes in class are never a good idea... unless you want a badly dressed underpaid misery of a person to expose your cleverly concealed, undying love for the preverbial bad boy de jour. However, its in this cinematic gem that Molly Ringwald teaches us the importance of honesty and the benefits therein. Imagine if she had lied on that questionnaire? I defy anyone to keep their heart from melting to a gooey pulp, when Jake Ryan mouths the words "Yeah you!"... sigh... if only we passed more anonymous notes..lol.

Well my dears, these are just a few of the countless lessons taught to us during the 80s through the syllabus that was the 'teen movie'. Those who skipped class, my advice is be it through Lovefilm.com or HMV ..... watch and learn!!
I am off to buy myself a copy of the "Back to The Future" trilogy.... (why I dont already own them is beyond me!)

Love peace and elbow grease  =)

"Love is in the air!".... (not rain!!)

Hey ladies and Jelly spoons....

It's raining outside (and I still haven't had a holiday this year) so in an effort to brighten things up, I thought I'd post a little Blog about my fave things of this week. So here are some things I'm lovin' right now:

1) Jelly Bellys

In the car! In bed! On the Bus! In class! In daytime! At night! With your friends! With your honey! While you work! When you play! .... Whenever, whatever, wherever...... its all about 'the Bellys'!!

2) Girl Props.com !!

Both me and BB love em! You can't find a more style conscious... affordable supplier of fresh garms to suit your varied tastes (besides "MYBH" of course!!)

from those who rock out....

......to those who snack out

In fact, BB was luchy enough to get some Girl Props delights from me for her Bday this year.

{ BB's is in red... but I may get myself this one =)  }

I know, I'm too nice... the lucky beggar!

3) BBoy Championships London

Even though we can't go this year (how my brown heart cries)  ;..o) I'm still including it amongst  the things I'm lovin. We had so much fun at the Breakin' Convention in Birmingham.... this is bound to be even more spectacular. So many different types of friendly, passionate and talented people! ..... Oh well, there is always next year =)

4) "The Fresh Tour of MYBH"

We have had so much fun and met sooooo many new peeps. We can't wait until our next event! In fact, we enjoyed selling in person so much, we are looking at somewhere more permanent to sell from (in person that is). Just keep your eyes clocking the blog for more info!! Unfortunately for you guys, me and BB forgot to take lots of pics as we were too busy selling/ spreading the goodness...

oh well, if we find any worth putting up we may do so, either here or on our Facebook.

This brings us nicely along to fifth place on my 'lovin' list....

5) Facebook =)

By popular request, we have actually pulled our finger out and become part of Facebook. Needless to say, we have gained loads of friends in a short space of time. If your not already one... become one (we don't bite...  that hard.... lol). Its similar to the blog but with more pictures. In fact, we have some pics up from the Breakin Convention we were at earlier this year.

Be sure to check it out... just follow the link from the badge (top right on the blog).

Until then... be byootiful!
